SEO Scammers SEO Spammers WARNING from search engine optimization expert
In my endless endeavours to make SEO a bit more sexy, I should talk to you about the pirates of the SEO ocean.
Not SEO pirates of the Caribbean, not even pirates from Nigeria, these are more likely to be from China or India, though of course they’re not always from there – they could equally be from the USA or Australia.
This is never to say that all search engine optimisers from China or India are dodgy, but it is to recommend that you should not trust them at first as a firm policy, especially if the outcome would be handing your credit card details over to someone you’ve never met.
Some things are better done at home – through somebody you know, of someone who has been personally recommended. As an example, even though I write on this blog and occasionally add to my seotherapy.com.au website, I have never yet picked up a client from these web profiles, or from twittering about SEO. All of my clients, without exception, have come through word of mouth.
I posted a video today about SEO Scammers and how you should beware them.
Talking on video is not my forte, but never mind, it was something to do. Also I’ve been doing a lot of Youtube videos for other clients, and as they say, the cobbler’s children have no shoes. Sometimes I have to stick my neck out and do wat I’m getting my SEO clients to do.
I’ve got a number of Youtube videos onto the first page of Google results, despite the hype (and there are some appalling hypesters out there), a video may take three months to get a really good position on Google’s first page and stay there – I can get a #1 position on Google for a general web result, but videos can take three months – however they are well worth having there.
Getting back to the subject of SEO scammers, there are more subtle forms of scamming too. Like using a technique that seems to get you to #1 on Google, but in fact is a manipulation for purposes of momentary trickery. If they can fool your eyes and mind for an hour or two and you’ve got no-one you can turn to for an expert second opinion, then you’re a candidate for being sucked in through other methods which may seem more legitimate, but which are still deeply dodgy.
I offer all sorts of options for people looking for exciting growth of their internet and media profile, which includes writing articles about you which are then syndicated, as well as shooting videos of you which are syndicated also. If you wish to chat about them, email media@seotherapy.com.au – I can work for you for as little as 5 hours a month up to 10 hours per week, and yet will achieve massive improvement in both SEO and growth of your name. I also manage twitter accounts for 13 clients now – usually set them up in the first place also, eg selecting the best name for the twitter profile etc. If you have something to sell online, run the idea by me. I’ll give you my honest opinion, and sometimes my view ends up being that I can’t help you – but if I can, you will love it.
